Position Summary

The Corporate Strategy & Development Manager plays a critical role on an enterprise-wide team that proactively supports Syniti’s business and leadership to identify, develop and execute inorganic opportunities, including M&A, strategic partnerships, joint ventures and alliances. Our deal teams work closely with the rest of our strategy teams (Competitive Intelligence, Core Strategy, Innovation) on projects aligned with Syniti’s divisions.

As a key stakeholder in Syniti’s corporate strategy planning the person in this role will work closely with other business leaders to:

  • Align Strategic Business Development priorities with Enterprise and Divisional strategy
  • Source opportunities through the business, selective target screening and external 3rd party conversations
  • Evaluate any diligence deals alongside cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., legal, risk, finance, HR…)
  • Execute deals and transition them to the business for successful integration

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducts efficient and thorough analyses to support the evaluation of new business and inorganic opportunities (e.g., M&A, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, alliances, minority investments), ensuring quality of deliverables to drive outcomes
  • Coordinates with cross-functional stakeholders and conducts relevant analyses to support build / buy / partner / invest decisions
  • Evaluate incoming Confidential Information Memorandums (CIM’s) for strategic fit
  • Program manage acquisition integrations
  • Develops and maintains financial models and scenario analysis to estimate the potential value of opportunities (including three statement financial modelling, DCF analysis, comparable analysis, IRR analysis, accretion / dilution, etc.)
  • Determines appropriate sources of information to collect, compile, interpret, analyze and summarize results in alignment with the overall business strategy
  • Leads individual workstreams of the deal lifecycle (sourcing, diligence, structuring, execution) and contributes to the development of a deal structure, including commercial and governance terms
  • Coordinates due diligence workstreams with cross-functional stakeholders and external parties for contemplated deals
  • Maintain current Syniti deck for financial investors presentation
  • Maintain Latest TAM and growth numbers for segments we operate in
  • Maintain summary industry analyst reports and positioning vs competition
  • Supports ad hoc and periodic evaluation reviews to assess the portfolio of investments
  • Creates presentations for senior management
  • Engages and coordinates with internal and external partners to ensure timely and efficient execution
  • Ensures financial methodologies, frameworks and approaches are applied consistently
  • Provides guidance and coaching to cross-functional teams
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • MBA in Strategy or Finance preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate development, private equity, venture capital, or management consulting
  • Prior M&A and / or investing experience required
  • Experience with financial modeling and valuations required
  • Experience developing compelling business cases and presentations
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Deadline-driven, organized, and able to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team and on a standalone basis
  • Ability to develop a collaborative rapport with divisional executives and teams
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
