Global Shipping and Logistics Company
Syniti delivers EPM Accelerator Suite to Streamline Business-Critical Accounting Consolidation Processes.
Challenge
A global shipping and logistics company, headquartered in the Asia-Pacific Region, sought to streamline legal and management data consolidation and reporting processes by implementing a unified solution using SAP Business Planning and Consolidation.
Before engaging with Syniti, the organization attempted to implement an older version of BPC, using services from another vendor but the project did not meet expectations and had to be stopped mid-way.
When the organization re-embarked on this initiative, a key evaluation criterion was vendor domain expertise and proven success stories. Before the project started there were key questions that needed answering: What was the gap between the existing processes using current tools versus an ‘ideal world’? How would the product meet the requirements? What would be the best rollout approach? And finally, should the organization go with a phased approach or a big bang?
Solution
The organization chose Syniti to design the program because of their specialism in Enterprise Performance Management. The organization engaged Syniti to conduct a thorough EPM Assessment to answer their key questions. Syniti presented a detailed requirements document, possible rollout approaches with an options analysis and a brief solution overview based on the proposed processes.
After reviewing the proposal, the organization commissioned Syniti to design the EPM solution and install their EPM Accelerator Suite to seamlessly integrate BPC with SAP ECC and other legacy systems to streamline data consolidation processes and load the required source system data.
Near real-time transactional posting was conducted via SDR using three pre-migration logic scans to validate master data that included relevancy checks (whether they wanted it migrated or not), S/4 CFIN target readiness, and Business Partner harmonization to merge customer and vendor data.
Outcome
The solution had the intended effects and now the financial and management accounts are integrated leading to a single source of adjustments and avoiding redundant posting of group adjustments. Syniti automated most of the manual activities in the process to minimize user intervention for data processing. With this, data teams could spend more time on data analysis and reporting, rather than data collection and processing.
The organization now has one system to report on the actuals, as well as budget and forecast information, allowing them to be more agile and pro-active.
