Fast, efficient Data Replication solution moves data from ERP to cloud portal.

Challenge

McDougall Energy Inc. is a Canadian, privately owned energy company, which has been serving customers for over 70 years in three distinct markets: home, auto, and business. The company needed to find a quicker, more efficient management software tool to replace its current MSSQL replication solution used to move data from ERP systems to a web portal database. McDougall Energy replicates accurate data in real-time, allows customers to use an on-demand reporting tool on the portal to ensure they have up-to-date data. Furthermore, because the web portal had to be functional by a strict deadline, MEI required a solution that could be implemented within a short time frame.

Solution

Syniti introduced and applied ETL strategies to transform, map, and replicate data from ERP systems between in-house and host servers–including a 30,000+ customer portal user base and 300+ employee user base. Our Syniti Data Replication (SDR) solution replicated and filtered data from McDougall’s ERP system to financial databases and the customer portal database –while still permitting data access to eight in-house IT professionals. SDR was able to transform and map fields, apply our own code via VB or C# script, and import references.

Outcome

Syniti enabled McDougall’s rollout of its customer portal, allowing for easy access to accurate data and real-time reporting. The majority of the solution was implemented within one hour of SDR installation. Through this approach, we were able to manage a streamlined implementation process, configure source and target databases, and map databases with minimal McDougall management and resources. Now that the customer portal is live, customers are able to view, organize, and report on their account details efficiently and accurately. The McDougall team can now process approximately 350,000 records daily without any issues.
